Simple way to report status in MUME

If you've ever tried to use the report command and just got a confusing message about bug reports, here is a much better way to show your status to your group.

The Shortcut: sc r

Instead of typing out the whole word, use this short version. It bypasses the bug report system and works perfectly:

> sc r

What it looks like:

You report 328/328 hits, 101/101 mana, and 140/140 moves.

This is short for score report. It’s much faster than typing the full word and is a great habit to pick up for group play. It’s all about keeping your team informed in the heat of battle!

A helpful way to check gear in MUME - Compare command

I found a really useful way to handle shopping in Middle-earth that I wanted to share. If you're like me and hate wasting gold on the wrong equipment, these two steps are a lifesaver:

1. Filter the shop list

Instead of looking at everything, you can list specific categories. For example, if you're looking for axes, type:

> list clweapon

2. Compare the items

You don't have to guess which item is better. Use the compare command with the numbers from the list:

> compare 779 880

What you get:

The game gives you a clear breakdown of the pros and cons, which is incredibly helpful:

"The mighty dwarven axe is noticeably better when attacking but slightly inferior when defending... and inflicts considerably more damage."

Baker Quest - Make Bannocks

How to get going

To be able to make tasty bannocks you need to complete the quest titled Baker. To complete it you need to find the lonely Giant who can be seen wandering around the road from Grey Havens to the Shire.

When you find him, use the command:

> comfort giant

You will be sent on a quest finding plants and ingredients based on your level. Note that this quest is generally easier the lower level you are.

In-game instructions

Once completed, you can check your progress with herblore baker:

"To make bannocks light and brown, all that is needed is one pound of flour, three eggs, and the sweet golden treasure of a freshly crushed honeycomb... Mix carefully!"

How to make them

Buy or find 3 eggs, 1 flour and one honeycomb. You also need a herbal kit from a shop.
